Instagram/Story & Video Removal

Instagram Story &
Video Removal Services

Instagram Stories are ephemeral by design — but that doesn't mean the harm they cause disappears with them. We handle active Stories, Story Highlights, feed videos, and IGTV content containing unauthorized material, copyright violations, or privacy issues.

What Makes Story & Video Removal Unique

Stories and video content have different characteristics than static posts. Understanding those differences matters for how we approach each case.

Stories expire — but the harm doesn't

Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours by default. But in those 24 hours, they can be seen, screenshotted, recorded, and shared by many people. The expiry doesn't undo the distribution that already happened.

Saved and archived Stories

Stories can be saved as Highlights, added to Close Friends lists, or archived by the account holder. A Story removed from public view may still exist in a saved or archived form that requires separate action.

Stories can be screenshotted and re-shared

Content from an expired Story can still circulate if someone recorded or screenshotted it before expiry. If that content is then posted elsewhere, that becomes a separate content removal issue.

Video content requires copyright-specific documentation

Feed videos and IGTV content may include both audio and video that are separately copyrightable. Establishing ownership over each component strengthens a copyright-based removal request.

What We Handle

From 24-hour Stories to long-form IGTV videos, we work across all Instagram video and Story formats.

Active Instagram Stories

Stories currently live that contain your content, personal information, or material posted without your consent.

Story Highlights

Saved Stories pinned to a profile as Highlights that contain violating content and remain publicly visible beyond 24 hours.

Instagram Feed Videos

Video posts in the main feed containing your copyrighted footage, personal information, or content posted without authorization.

IGTV & Long-form Video

Long-form Instagram video content that reproduces your copyrighted material or violates your privacy.

Videos Featuring You Without Consent

Any Instagram video that shows you — your face, your voice, your location — without your knowledge or consent.

Privacy-Violating Video Content

Video or Story content that reveals personal details, private locations, or sensitive information you did not publicly disclose.

What We Typically Need

For Stories, timing matters: evidence should be captured before the 24-hour window expires if possible.

  • Link (URL) to the Story, Highlight, or video (captured before expiry for Stories)
  • Screenshots or screen recordings documenting the content and the account
  • Your original content or proof of ownership if copyright applies
  • Description of how the content was obtained and what harm it is causing
  • Any prior requests you made to the account holder to remove it

How We Work Your Case

01

Content Assessment

We review the Story, Highlight, or video to understand its content, how it violates policy or your rights, and the current distribution status.

02

Urgency Triage for Stories

For active Stories, we prioritize documentation first — capturing the evidence before the 24-hour window closes — then proceed with the appropriate submission.

03

Basis Identification

We determine whether the removal basis is copyright, privacy, personal information, non-consensual imagery, or another policy category, since each uses a different Instagram submission channel.

04

Report Preparation

We prepare a complete, accurate report with the supporting evidence structured for the specific submission channel and review criteria.

05

Follow-Up

We track the outcome and assist with follow-up, including addressing saved Highlights or re-shared content if the original Story has already expired.

Methodical, Not Reactive

Founder Bryan Mealer built this agency on the same methodical approach he used as an investigative journalist: document first, then act. For time-sensitive Story cases, that means capturing evidence before filing. For video cases, it means identifying every infringement point before preparing the submission.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you remove an expired Instagram Story?

Once a Story expires naturally after 24 hours, it is no longer publicly visible from the account — so removal of the Story itself is no longer applicable. However, if the content was saved as a Highlight, or if screenshots or recordings of the Story were then posted elsewhere, we can address those separately. The most important step with Stories is documenting the evidence before the 24-hour window closes.

What evidence do you need for a Story removal?

For an active Story: the URL (if accessible), screenshots, screen recordings, and a clear description of the violation. For a Highlight: the profile URL and Highlight name, plus screenshots. For video — feed video or IGTV — the post URL, screenshots, and ownership documentation if copyright applies.

What about saved Stories — Story Highlights?

Story Highlights are permanently displayed on a profile and can be reported through Instagram's standard content reporting process. Because they persist beyond 24 hours, there is no time pressure to document them before expiry. We treat Highlights the same as any other persistent content — build the case, identify the violation basis, and submit through the correct channel.

How is an IGTV video removal different from a regular post removal?

IGTV content is longer-form video, but it follows the same copyright and policy frameworks as other Instagram content. Copyright claims use the same DMCA process; privacy violations use the same reporting pathway. The primary difference is documenting the specific segments of a longer video that contain the violating content, which requires more precise timestamping in the submission.

What if someone posted a video of me that I didn't know was being filmed?

This may qualify as a privacy violation, depending on the context. Instagram's policies address filming and sharing video of individuals without their knowledge, particularly in private settings. We assess the specifics of the situation — where it was filmed, what it shows, and what harm it is causing — before recommending the correct reporting path.
