Can you remove someone else's Facebook post?
We can assist with posts that violate a Facebook policy — such as posts containing your private information, photos taken or shared without your consent, copyrighted material you own, or harassment targeting you. We cannot remove posts simply because you dislike them or they say unflattering things. The post must have a policy basis for removal.
Can an old Facebook post be removed?
Age of the post doesn't prevent a report — if the content violates Facebook policy, it can be reported regardless of when it was posted. However, the post must still be accessible on Facebook at the time we pursue the case.
What about posts that say false things about me?
Facebook's policies are generally not designed to adjudicate whether speech is true or false. Posts can be reported for specific policy violations — such as privacy violations, harassment, or impersonation — but content that is simply inaccurate or critical is generally not removable through Facebook's standard reporting process on that basis alone. If the post contains personal information, threats, or other specific violations, those are the aspects we focus on.
How long does Facebook post removal take?
Facebook's review timeline varies. Simple, clear violations with good documentation can resolve in days. More complex or contested posts can take longer. Posts that go through multiple rounds of review can take weeks. We communicate updates as they come.
What if the person refuses to delete the post themselves?
We work through Facebook's official reporting process, not through the person who posted the content. If the post violates policy, Facebook has the authority to remove it regardless of whether the poster agrees.
Can you remove a post that shares my phone number or address?
Posts sharing personal contact information, addresses, or other identifying details without consent may qualify under Facebook's privacy policies.
